A MAVRIK For A Maverick
The new year has brought with it a heap of great new golf equipment and one of the most highly anticipated has been the Callaway Mavrik range. This week in between downpours I took the Mavrik Sub-Zero Driver out for a hit.
I love Callaway Drivers, they just all produce the results they say and they just keep getting better and better. Callaway has once again opted to use Artificial Intelligence at the forefront of its product design which Callaway has proven works, and therefore it’s here to stay. Now it’s investing further in it and really pushing the boundaries with this Mavrik range.
The new driver range has improved looks and also feels better due to a lighter head yet it feels harder at impact. One of the main new features of this ‘Mavrik philosophy’ is that Callaway is now producing different Flash Faces for each of their driver models and lofts. Callaway has three different driver models in the Mavrik range to offer every golfer the opportunity to get the most from their game. I took out the Mavrik Sub Zero which is designed for the better player as it produces less spin and has a slightly smaller head for increased swing speed and distance. In fact, the head is the smallest in the range at 450cc (compared to the Mavrik and Mavrik Max which are 460cc), but the most versatile in settings and adjustability.
There are 14 gram and 2-gram interchangeable weights to alter ball flight and spin. The lie angle is slightly flatter than the others and the flight is more neutral.
I really rated this driver and was surprised how much I liked the slightly smaller head. The lighter weight was noticeable and really helped me feel like I was swinging faster but the results were fantastic..long straight draws that ran a mile. Considering that I loved the previous Epic Flash, to surpass its performance is amazing but they have done it with ease.
They look great, feel great and have a hidden bonus of AI behind them that just tops them off. They really are a complete driver for all level golfers. They come in Mavrik Standard, Sub-Zero and Max options depending on your skill and requirements.
I would certainly put the Sub Zero into my bag for good, that is of course if nothing new comes onto the market that needs me to test out…
See you next week,
